Here at Dippy Real Estate, it is a frequent occurrence that the office
will receive a call from a person who would like more information on a
home that has already been sold, sometimes as far back as months or years
earlier. When questioned, it is often found out that they got information
about the listing from the search engines. A typical online search result
is pulling information from a wide range of sources and is not verified
to be up to date.
Multiple Listing Service
If you are in the market for a new home, we would encourage getting more
accurate information through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). This
is where you can receive the most accurate information about resale properties
and the values of homes. The MLS is where realtors will generally add
listings with some of the following features:
- Virtual tours
The MLS is held to a strict code of ethics by Realtors® that input
information and keep it updated. Some of the other sites, such as the
following, are not held to a code of ethics and therefore, they are not
as trustworthy of a source of information:
In some cases, the automated home evaluations, such as Zillow’s Zestimates,
are not always accurate.
Searching for a home can be a frustrating enough experience without having
to deal with false information and finding an ideal home that was taken
off the market months ago! You can instead check out the LMS for clear
and accurate information.
Do not settle for false information or a mediocre realtor. If you have
